Each year, the Charlie A’Court Scholarship for Excellence in Music (CASEM) awards a one-time, lump sum payment of $500 CAD (Five Hundred Dollars CAD) to one Nova Scotian-high school graduating student who has been accepted to specifically continue their music education at a post-secondary institution. The successful recipient also receives access to a 1-hour mentorship consultation with Charlie A’Court.

Applicants must demonstrate a high level of musical proficiency and significant achievement in their music education thus far. Applicants will be evaluated on such factors including, but not limited to, musical talent and aptitude, and extra-curricular involvement in high school and community. (i.e. volunteer work, charity events, fundraising, high school musicals or concerts).
Due to the provincial funding cuts to the creative arts sectors in Nova Scotia imposed by the Tim Houston government earlier this year, the normal submission window has been adjusted to still allow applicants ample time to submit.
The new deadline for 2026 submissions is 11:59 PM ADT on Friday, August 14, 2026.

CASEM was created by 6x East Coast Music Award winner Charlie A’Court and launched in 2017. As a means to celebrate young musicians, CASEM invests in the future of world-class musicianship Nova Scotia has come to be praised for. Perhaps you’re studying music composition, film scoring, music therapy or even music education; if you’ve graduated from a public high school in Nova Scotia in 2026 and accepted into a post-secondary institution specifically to continue your music journey and education, you may be eligible to apply to CASEM.
