Interview with Roots Music Canada: How A’Court saw his mental health struggles reflected in others informed his new music.

Last October at the Folk Music Ontario (recently renamed to Folk Canada), Charlie sat down with folk music journalist and broadcaster Jan Vanderhorst. That conversation was recorded and recently posted on the Roots Music Canada website. In the interview, A’Court discussed how his own mental health struggles of enduring the pandemic and the struggles of those around him shaped the sound and tone of his latest album San Palarino.

“I try to be kind of a happy-go-lucky fella, and I think a lot of folks see me as that,” he said.
“But I certainly have my dark moments like anyone else. So, I wanted to give that a bit of space on this record and get down to the roots of that.”
